Bi Any Other Name: Bisexual People Speak Out is the anthology I co-edited with Lani Ka’ahumanu, which was first published in 1991. A groundbreaking book that gives voice to the personal stories of a diverse group of bisexual people, it is considered a catalyst for the bisexual rights movement. It has been cited in hundreds of other works and was named one of Lambda Book Report’s Top 100 Queer Books of the 20th Century. It has been reprinted three times and is still in demand, appearing on numerous LGBT reading lists and queer studies curriculum guides. An edition in Chinese was published in 2009. From the abstract: “Progressive trends in the U.S. over the past fifty years—the development of a body of knowledge about sexuality, an increased interest in holistic healing modes, and the proliferation of sexual liberation movements and more sex-positive spiritual paths—have all helped create welcoming public space for the emergence of contemporary groups devoted to erotic spiritualities. These groups, sometimes referred to as sex magic groups or tantric sex, are most commonly known as sacred sex groups.
